Happy New Year! 🥂

Are you ready for 2023? I think most of us feel like it’s going to be a special year. Whether its the pending recession gloom or the ongoing war in Ukraine, or our ever shifting understanding of how we work (remote, office, hybrid? 5-day or 4-day week?) it’s definitely going to be a challenging year, but as someone who started my professional journey in 2007 I also know that a year like that offers opportunities for all of us. It will push us to learn and grow faster than 2022 and 2021 did, it will give us opportunities to jump on and challenging decisions to make.

To help you start 2023 on a strong note, I went through all Weekly Briefings of 2022 and pulled out the Top 12 resources for you, based on what you read the most:

Top 12 resources from 2022

In no particular order:

1️⃣ The 7 Types of Rest You Need to Actually Feel Recharged by Molly Shea

Top Take Aways: Sleeping is good for rest, but not enough, we have 7 different kinds of rest and you kinda need all of them - take a look which type of rest you’re getting the least of and double down on that.

2️⃣ How to clarify the expectations of your team roles by Stefano Sostak, agile coach | systemic team coach

Top Take Aways: this is a blue print for a workshop to do with your team that takes 2-3 hours but clears out all expectations from different team members towards a role

3️⃣ The 3 Skills Leaders Need to Succeed in a Wildly Uncertain Future, According to an Executive Coach by Renita Kalhorn

Top Take Aways: This article by our community member & executive coach Renita Kalhorn showcases 3 qualities you can build on as a leader in uncertain times, its a good reminder!

4️⃣ Question Bank for better 1-1s by FirstRound Review

Top Take Aways: Literally that’s what it is: A damn good list for Qs for your next 1-1s tagged with what they help you achieve respectively “self-reflection” or “understanding the issues”, “developing long-term goals” etc.

5️⃣ THE FOUR RULES FOR DECISION-MAKING by Tony Robbins

Top Take Aways: Write it down and get clear about how you feel about the options and the decision, let go of the fears you associate with either path you’d take. Check in with what’s important to you

6️⃣ FREE Delegation Template (Notion) - by Darja from Bunch

Top Take Aways: A hands-on template in Notion you can copy and use for all things that you need to delegate! Let me know any feedback you have!

7️⃣ Vacation Handover Template - by Darja Gutnick from Bunch

Top Take Aways: Make a copy of this template and start working on it 2 weeks before you go on your break. I vouch for a smoother “sign-off” 👌

Top Take Aways: Take a look at the questions I put together to help you make a quicker and more confident decision.

9️⃣ What is imposter syndrome and how can you combat it? by Elizabeth Cox

Top Take Aways: This video summarises what Imposter Syndrome is, who is at risk of experiencing it and which consequences it has on career choices people make. It goes into a few of the psychological workings of it (e.g. how pluralistic ignorance contributes to it).

🔟 121 One-on-one Questions by Hiba Amin from Hypercontext

Top Take Aways: This is the most complete list of 1/1 questions I’ve ever come across, its really really good. In order to address “latent” conflicts the questions around feedback for the manager and around the motivation of your team member are the most fitting. And they even have the ultimate 1/1 template as part of this list 🤩

1️⃣1️⃣ Mochary Method Curriculum by Matt Mochary

Top Take Aways: Matt Mochary has been CEO coach to Naval, the founders of OpenAI, Notion, Rippling, Robinhood, Coinbase, Reddit, Plaid, Flexport, Opendoor, partners at Sequoia, YC, Benchmark, and many other incredible leaders. He now opensources his whole exec coaching curriculum, this is leadership gold.

1️⃣2️⃣ Personal Annual Review 7 Simple Questions (That May Change Your Life) by Sahil Bloom

Top Take aways: This one is very straight to the point. The 7 questions are deep, but at the same time pragmatic & seem doable in just 1 day. Special bonus: Sahil recommends to review the results with your inner circle of sparing partners.
